![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() They say the larger drive mechanism and larger/heavier enclosure make the drive more physically stable, with less vibration - and that allows for more successful rips at faster speeds. Some people prefer "desktop" style external drives: That is, tray-loading drives housed in large cases, with their own power supply/AC plug. So any new, or recent model used, drive will work. ![]() A super-cheap or really old drive might have some problems reading CDs, but if so, then EAC will notify you of that because it will report accuracy errors or failures in the rip. If you are using EAC or a similar program that can securely rip CDs and check the accuracy of the rip through the AccurateRip database, then your choice of CD drive isn't really that important. ![]()
